Spring has finally sprung, buds are emerging from their winter hideouts, crocuses, tulips and daffodils are beginning to unfold, and many couples are more closely finalizing the details of their upcoming 2023 wedding, Don’t forget to book your officiant. While officiants are as high up the list as venue, date, and wedding party, we are important.
Find someone you relate to, who will offer you a personalized ceremony, with a sense of humour. While it may be nice for a friend to officiate, (in Ontario they need to be licensed) maybe you can utilize their gift of public speaking as an emcee. Your ceremony is usually only 15-20 minutes long, there are 4 legal things that need to be witnessed and signed by a licensed officiant.
I would also suggest looking for an officiant with experience, and not necessarily the least expensive. Why? To lead a ceremony with professionalism, knowing how to make it flow smoothly, offering enhancements all come with having officiated at several ceremonies. It is also the legal responsibility of the officiant to not only record your wedding in their own government issued record book, but they also have to send part of the license to Service Canada within 72 of the ceremony, as well as give your record of ceremony back to the couple.
I still have a few opening for 2023 as well as 2024 wedding season.
I wish couples, stress free planning, sunshine but not too much heat and a ‘happily ever after’!
